Tâm studied percussion at the Regional Conservatory of Nice in the class of Mr. Jacques CARRE, where he obtained a first prize in June 1999. He continued his studies at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Lyon with Jean GEOFFROY. He obtained his National Diploma of Higher Studies in June 2003. It was during these years of study in Lyon that he founded the YARN trio with Yi-Ping YANG and Raphaël AGGERY. They won the 1st Prize at the International Percussion Trio Competition in Luxembourg in February 2002. That same year, he also won the 2nd Prize in the International Vibraphone Competition in Clermont-Ferrand as a soloist. In 2003, he began a lasting collaboration with the company ARCOSM and their very first show “ECHOA”, directed by dancer Thomas GUERRY and percussionist/composer Camille ROCAILLEUX. On stage, dance and percussion meet, explore each other, and blend together with humor and poetry. The success of ECHOA led its performers to appear on many national stages (La Maison de la Danse in Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier, Lille, Paris, etc.) and international venues (London, Lisbon, Brussels, Moscow, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Wellington New Zealand…) as well as in numerous festivals abroad. He served as Assistant Professor at the Regional Conservatory of Nice in 2003, then as Professor of Artistic Education at the Conservatory of Limeil-Brévannes in 2006. Between 2008 and 2016, he taught at the Regional Conservatory of Toulon Provence Méditerranée. Tâm is a soloist and artistic director of the Percussions de Strasbourg and has been teaching at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Lyon since 2015. He was appointed as principal professor there in September 2021. Tâm was appointed Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the Ministry of Culture in 2019.
