Description
After his studies at the CNR of Lyon and the Geneva Conservatory, Jean-Marie Cottet earned five First Prizes at the CNSM of Paris: in piano, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, and piano accompaniment. In an advanced cycle with Jacques Rouvier for piano and Jean Hubeau for chamber music, he furthered his achievements with a series of awards in several international competitions: “Casadesus” (Cleveland, 1985), “Dino Ciani” (Milan, 1986), “Clara Haskil” (Vevey, 1987). He then honed his skills with Maria Curcio, Menahem Pressler, Nikita Magaloff… Since then, his concerts have taken him across several continents: Europe, Asia, America, and the Middle East. Jean-Marie Cottet performs both as a soloist and with orchestras, as well as in chamber music in the most varied formations; he plays with Emma Johnson, Gérard Poulet, Yvan Chifolleau, Jacques Rouvier, Michel Arrignon… and founded the Chin-Cottet duo (2 pianos). He regularly records for radios, televisions, and on CDs (REM, Una Corda, MFA). A composer (winner of the “Marcel Joste” prize at 18) and collection director at Combre editions, his natural engagement with contemporary music is further expressed through his permanent soloist role in the “Ensemble Court-Circuit”.
