A regular at prestigious festivals in France (La Roque-d’Anthéron Festival, Piano aux Jacobins, Lille Piano Festival, Radio France Montpellier Festival, etc.), Claire Désert is also present on international stages (Wigmore Hall in London, Kennedy Center in New York, Japan, Brazil, Germany, etc.) and performs as a soloist with major symphonic ensembles such as the Paris Orchestra, Radio France Philharmonic, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Prague, Quebec, Japan Orchestras… She has played under the baton of M. Janowski, J. Bělohlávek, L. Foster… Entering the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris at the age of 14, Claire Désert won a first prize unanimously from the jury in the piano class of V. Yankoff and a first prize in chamber music in the class of J. Hubeau. She was then admitted to the advanced cycle in both disciplines (chamber music class of R. Pidoux). Noticed by the pianist and pedagogue E. Malinin, he invited her to continue her studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Claire Désert is an exceptional chamber musician. Her privileged partners include Emmanuel Strosser, Anne Gastinel, Gary Hoffman, Philippe Graffin, Régis Pasquier, the Sine Nomine Quartet, the Moraguès Quintet… Her substantial discography includes, among others, a CD of Schumann’s Novelettes (awarded a “10” by Répertoire), a recording of Scriabin and Dvořák Concertos with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, which earned her a Victoire de la Musique in 1997, and several recordings made with Anne Gastinel. Also released by Mirare are two other discs dedicated to Schumann and a recording of Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances for four hands with Emmanuel Strosser.
