Description
Born into a family of musicians in Odessa, Elena Rozanova studied at the Gnessin School and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Her teachers included Tatiana Zelikman, Alexei Nassedkine, and Evgueni Moguilevski. She has won prizes in several international competitions, including the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibault Competition in Paris, the Eduard Flipse Competition in Rotterdam, the Takahiro Sonoda Competition in Fukuoka, Japan, and the International Chamber Music Competition in Melbourne. She is a laureate of the Cziffra Foundation.
Elena Rozanova has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre National de Montpellier, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Orchestre d’Auvergne, the Royal Philharmonic of Flanders, the Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata of Saint Petersburg, the Camerata Ireland, under conductors including Jean-Claude Casadesus, Saulus Sondeckis, and Arnold Katz. She has participated in numerous festivals including the Orangerie de Sceaux, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, the Carinthian Summer Festival, Piano en Valois, the La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival, the Radio France Montpellier Festival, the La Folle Journée de Nantes, the Île de France Festival, and the Ravinia Festival.
Elena Rozanova performs in a trio with violinist Svetlin Roussev and cellist François Salque, and her chamber music partners include Josef Silverstein, Raphael Oleg, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Dora Swarzberg, the Ysaÿe Quartet, and the Belcea Quartet. In recent seasons, she has performed at venues such as the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, the Piano(s) Festival in Lille, Toulon, Nîmes, the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, the Théâtre de la Ville, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and festivals including those in Colmar, Serres d’Auteuil, Divonne, L’Empéri, and Quimper, as well as the Liszt en Provence Festival.
Notable engagements include performances with the Orchestre National de Lille, Camerata Ireland under Barry Douglas, the Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra, the Montpellier Orchestra, and the “Novaia Rossiya” Orchestra. Her solo and chamber music recordings have received widespread acclaim, including awards such as the “Choc” from Le Monde de la musique, 5 Stars from Fono Forum in Germany, Diapason d’Or, and 10 from Classica/Repertoire, as well as being named CD of the month by the Arte channel. Her latest CD, released by DECCA with her preferred partners Svetlin Roussev and François Salque, has also garnered praise.
In addition to her performing career, Elena Rozanova is a piano professor at the CRR de Paris and is regularly invited to give masterclasses worldwide. She is the artistic director of the “Classicaval” and “Chatel Classic” festivals as well as the classical programming at the Auditorium du Pôle culturel Chabran. Since January 2016, Elena has been the director of the Dracenie Agglomeration Conservatory.
