Born in 1980, he began playing the piano at age 6 and the organ at 11. Trained by Brigitte Engerer, Jean Koerner, and Christian Ivaldi, he won four first prizes at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris (piano, chamber music, piano accompaniment, harmony). A winner of several international competitions both as a soloist and in chamber music (Lyon, ARD Munich, Trieste, Beethoven Vienna), Jonas Vitaud has performed at prestigious festivals: Roque d’Anthéron, Lille Piano(s) Festival, Piano aux Jacobins, Easter in Deauville, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Tokyo, Ekaterinburg, and Warsaw, La Chaise Dieu Festival, Chopin Festival at Bagatelle, Richard Strauss Festival in Germany, Autumn Musical in Caserta, Italy, iDans in Istanbul, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, French May in Hong Kong, Phillips collection in Washington…
Jonas Vitaud has performed with Orchestras such as those of Mulhouse, Cannes, Toulouse, Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Munich Radio Orchestra, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra… He gives a privileged place to chamber music and plays with artists such as sopranos Karine Deshayes, Sumi Hwang, Yumiko Tanimura, cellists Victor Julien-Laferrière and Christian-Pierre La Marca, violist Adrien La Marca, pianist Adam Laloum, clarinetist Raphaël Sévère, violinist Mi-Sa Yang, Zaïde Quartet… Passionate about contemporary music, Jonas Vitaud has worked with masters of creation like Henri Dutilleux, Thierry Escaich, György Kurtag, Philippe Hersant, Yann Robin. These encounters have been an opportunity to confront the variety of current musical trends and develop his musical imagination.
In 2021, a solo album dedicated to Beethoven’s year 1802 was released by MIRARE, receiving a CHOC CLASSICA and praise from the press. In 2019, two albums were released by MIRARE and ALPHA CLASSICS, one with violinist Mi-Sa Yang dedicated to MOZART and the other to Russian repertoire with cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière. In October 2018, for the centenary of Debussy, Jonas Vitaud released a double album with MIRARE dedicated to the composer’s early years, an original and ambitious project presenting lesser-known aspects of Debussy’s universe. In March 2016, Jonas Vitaud presents a Tchaikovsky disc at MIRARE – The Seasons and the Grand Sonata opus 37, which received 5 Diapasons. His solo album dedicated to Henri Dutilleux and Franz Liszt at NoMadMusic was a success and received the GRAND PRIX SOLISTE INSTRUMENTAL from the Académie Charles Cros (CHOC CLASSICA. 5 DIAPASON). He gave numerous tributes to Henri Dutilleux during his centennial year in 2016 at the Opera of Limoges, the Opera of Vichy, and the National Scenes of Douai and Arras…
Jonas Vitaud has been teaching at the CNSM of Paris since 2013, sight-reading and piano accompaniment, then as an assistant to Marie-Josèphe Jude’s class. From the 2022/2023 academic year, he is a piano professor. He is an associate artist at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.
